Dr. Andre Kreie

Chairman

Andre Kreie (PhD) is Managing Director at LEARN Logistics by Kühne-Foundation based in Hamburg, Germany. He is a Business Economist and holds a PhD and Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. In his current role, Dr. Kreie leads the education unit LEARN of the Kühne-Foundation that addresses capacity building in middle- and low-income countries related to logistics, supply chain management, leadership, and strategy. Besides his frequent teaching in business programs at different universities and further education institutions globally, Dr. Kreie is a regular member of the International Advisory Boards of Edinburgh Business School (EBS), UK, and Arizona State University (ASU), US for the CARISCA Project in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. 

Since October 2023, Dr. Kreie also chairs the International Advisory Board of the Logistics Institute of Central Asia (LICA). Prior to joining the Kühne Foundation, Dr. Kreie completed a professional multi-year traineeship with a logistics company to understand and apply all operational procedures required in sea-, air-, and land-transportation. He gained further work experience in the supply chain business with a globally operating logistics service provider and worked as project manager for logistics design and operations with a leading European DIY-retailer. 

His research interest is on organizational and network learning, and supply chain risk management to enable the adaptations of logistical systems to a changing environment. In 2014, Dr. Kreie won the International Emerald/EFDM Outstanding Doctoral Research Award for his PhD thesis on “The Adaptation of Supply Chains to Climate Change”.

Dr. Dante Benjamin Matellini

Board member

Dr. Dante Benjamin Matellini (Ben) is a Reader in Risk and Safety Management within the School of Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University. His responsibilities include directing research, managing collaborative partnerships, and delivering teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Ben’s area of expertise is in the development and application of risk and safety management techniques within industry. Ben is interested in the development and application of risk management techniques within industry. He has previously worked on projects within the fire and rescue services, process industries, and Arctic shipping. Ben is director of study for several PhD projects in these areas. Ben also works on research within logistics and supply chain management where he is directing several PhD projects.

Ben manages collaborative partnerships for the University with Lloyds Maritime Academy, the German Academy of Foreign Trade and Logistics (DAV), Risktec, and the Sino-British College / University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Ben is also the programme leader for the MSc degree apprenticeship in Risk and Safety Management, operated in collaboration with Risktec.

Prior to joining the University Ben was a risk and safety consultant at ABS Consulting (UK), working on oil and gas, and marine projects across the world. Ben also spent eight years in Peru working for the Government’s Maritime Institution, where he managed oceanographic projects and conducted research on the El Nino Southern Oscillation phenomenon.

Dr. Denny J. Cho

Dr. Denny J. Cho is the founder of the Logistics Institute of Central Asia (LICA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and an experienced professor with over 20 years of teaching Systems Engineering and Business Management. His expertise includes manufacturing, aviation, decision-making, program management, supply chain management, logistics, and transportation. He currently teaches at the Kyrgyz State Technical University and LICA. From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Cho also taught at both the Wharton Business and SEAS Schools at the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Cho is a proven entrepreneur, program manager, and leader with over 30 years of broad management and technical experience in developing advanced aviation and IT technologies. In 2012, he established Global Technology Solutions (GTS) to provide business management and technology consulting, IT software program development, and IT hardware technology services. From 1985 to 2011, he worked at Lockheed Martin and The Boeing Company, where he served as a Program Manager/Associate Technical Fellow, managing various programmatic and technical activities.

At Boeing, he also served as an Administrative FAA DER, managing BB609 Type Certification for the FAA. His expertise spans many aspects of the enterprise value chain, including strategic planning, business development, proposal preparation, technical requirements management, multidisciplinary system design trade and optimization, testing and integration, supplier management, and manufacturing.
