The 6th African Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management (ACOSCM) will be held on 17 and 18 September 2024 at the Logistics Institute of Central Asia (LICA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Known for its international prestige, ACOSCM brings together academics and professionals from various fields such as logistics, supply chain management, operations and transportation. For the first time, this prestigious event will be held outside Africa, reflecting its growing global influence. Many local universities and industries in Kyrgyzstan are expected to benefit from the 6th ACOSCM.

ACOSCM is renowned for addressing contemporary issues that are critically important to the logistics industry and its client sectors. This year’s theme is ” “Rethinking future supply chains:  the need to rapidly redesign chains in the age of the artificial and the emergence of extreme trends”, highlighting the need for adaptive strategies in response to contemporary multifaceted crises. The conference will delve into the fundamental changes needed due to technological advancements, geopolitical shifts, and climate change, advocating for sustainable and circular practices in supply chains.

Previous conferences were held in Kampala (2023), Nairobi (2022), Kigali (2021), Addis Ababa (2019), and Dar es Salaam (2018), consistently attracting 100-120 scholars. This year, participants from various countries across Africa and around the world are expected, including countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China.  ACOSCM 2024 will contribute to Agenda 2063, aimed at economic growth and sustainable development for African countries. The conference will emphasize the urgency of rethinking supply chains to withstand both anthropogenic and natural extreme conditions, promoting new approaches and processes for a sustainable future.
